Samsung Electronics will convert a former R&D site at its Giheung campus into a new DRAM production facility, aiming for a monthly capacity of 100,000 wafers. This decision reverses prior plans for new R&D centers, prioritizing memory production to meet surging demand from global AI infrastructure investment. The company is also expanding its Pyeongtaek campus with a 100,000-wafer-per-month line for HBM4 DRAM.
