Samsung Foundry's principal engineer confirmed the Tesla AI5 chip has reached tape-out and is scheduled for mass production at the Taylor fab using their latest 2nm process technology. The AI5 chip integrates 12 SK Hynix GDDR6 or GDDR7 memory packages, suggesting a 384-bit memory bus with bandwidth up to 1.536 TB/s. Tesla plans to use the AI5 processor in its cars, robots, and data centers, with Elon Musk claiming up to 40X performance improvements over its predecessor.
