AMD's new Helios rack system, powered by 72 MI455X GPUs, claims 50 percent more HBM4 and scale-out bandwidth than NVIDIA's Vera Rubin, along with 15-25 percent higher AI training performance. The MI455X GPU features 24 chiplets, including eight compute dies on TSMC's 2nm process and 12 HBM4 stacks, delivering up to 4x higher floating-point performance than its predecessor. Helios utilizes Broadcom Tomahawk 6 switch ASICs and AMD's Pensando Vulcano network cards for scale-up and scale-out networking, offering 3.6 TB/s bidirectional bandwidth per MI455X.
