Z.ai has reportedly finished construction of a 1-gigawatt AI data center in China, which is already partially operational and runs entirely on Chinese-made AI accelerators. The facility will be used to train the company’s future GLM models, with several computing clusters containing over 10,000 domestic chips each.
China is building self-sufficient AI compute infrastructure with domestic chips, reducing reliance on US technology and creating a parallel supply chain.
