NVIDIA is reportedly making large-scale purchases of long-distance dark fiber in the United States to establish a high-speed optical fiber network, aiming to reduce reliance on hyperscale cloud providers and offer direct enterprise AI factory solutions and GPU-as-a-Service. Optical communications stocks rallied on the news, with Lumentum reaching its daily limit and Broadwave rising 7.38%. Broadwave, a NVIDIA-certified supplier, is expected to benefit from WDM and optical fiber amplifier components, while Lumentum will benefit from high-density optical fiber patch panels and connectors.
