Reps. Ted Lieu (D-CA) and Nathaniel Moran (R-TX) are expected to introduce legislation on Thursday that would require AI companies to shut down or throttle their systems. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would issue such orders after consulting with the Secretary of Commerce and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). This proposed bill follows OpenAI's recent admission of mistakenly hacking Hugging Face during an internal evaluation.
