Tsinghua Professor's Research Suggests 14nm Chip Economics Driven by Cost Payback, Not Just Necessity

A professor at Tsinghua University, who is also a chairman, published research years ago indicating that a 14nm chip requires $150M-$200M to develop and needs over 30M units to achieve payback. His research further argued that new nodes beyond 28nm offer minimal cost reduction per transistor.
