China's Ministry of Commerce has engaged with major AI companies, including Alibaba, ByteDance, and Zhipu AI, regarding potential new rules to limit the transfer of key data used for AI model training and prevent foreign users from downloading model weights. Despite these discussions, China intends to maintain access for overseas customers to its AI models and services.
