Intel and Fortinet announced a strategic cooperation to jointly develop the Fortinet Security Processor 6 (SP6), a core customized chip for Fortinet's FortiGate firewall. Intel will provide chip design, advanced packaging, and wafer manufacturing services for the SP6 program. This marks Fortinet as the first external customer to utilize Intel's advanced 'Intel 4' extreme ultraviolet (EUV) process, previously reserved for Intel's internal products.
