Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang secured deals in Japan, including a national AI factory, partnerships with leading robotics companies, and agreements with chip-material suppliers. Japan's government is committing up to 1 trillion yen ($6.2 billion) over five years to Noetra, a consortium of 44 domestic firms led by SoftBank, Sony, NEC, and Honda, to build its own "physical AI" foundation models. Nvidia will construct a "Vera Rubin AI factory" in Japan, a 140MW data center launching in 2028 with 13,750 Vera CPUs and 27,500 Rubin GPUs, to train these models.
Japan is committing significant capital to build sovereign AI compute and models, locking in Nvidia's next-gen hardware for a national AI factory.
