Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) has qualified an Asian source for a relatively unlimited supply of indium phosphide substrates, a critical component for optical transceivers. The company is aggressively acquiring and installing MOCVD epi-growth tools to quadruple its internal wafer growth capacity within a year. Experts have vetted AAOI's 400G and 800G transceiver technology, confirming it is solid and well-qualified.
