NVIDIA, alongside Meta, Microsoft, Mistral, Hugging Face, IBM, Mozilla, and Palantir, has formed a coalition to promote open models, arguing they enable companies and countries to inspect, modify, and run AI on their own infrastructure. This initiative aims to reduce dependence on a few AI providers, offer more control over data and models, and facilitate cheaper, specialized AI systems.
