Tencent quietly released WorkBuddy, a desktop agent capable of reading and editing local files, running scripts, and generating HTML pages, controllable via a chat interface. The agent runs on Tencent's Hunyuan Hy3 model and offers daily free credits for tasks. Its most locally-tailored feature is WeChat integration, allowing users to manage remote files, trigger tasks, and order group lunch directly from the messaging app.
Tencent's WorkBuddy leverages WeChat's ecosystem to reduce user friction for agent adoption in China, expanding agentic AI to desktop task management.
